Learn the prehistoric survival skill of flintknapping and discover the caveman in you! There will be a beginners session in the morning followed by a more advanced class in the afternoon.

EXPLORING VELVET WORKSHOP WITH ANGIE HUGHES

The properties of velvet are quite astonishing; this workshop will explore the shadow effects achieved with dyes, inks and bleaching back in addition to transfoils and bronze powders.

FABULOUS FOOD FAIR

Join us to sample and buy the very best of food and drink form around the region.

Local companies have been selected for their use of natural ingredients and use of traditional methods, like the Purity Brewery and the Halfpenny Green Vineyards. While Akikki Organics, Williams Farm Shop, Red Kite Health Foods, Pershore College, Taskers Authentic Curries, Redditch Vegetarian & Vegan Society, Bennets Ice Cream and Solihull Honey all show off their fresh, tasty and unusual variety of produce.

Archive Film Screening
ARCHIVE FILM SCREENING ON WORCESTERSHIRE AND REDDITCH

Step back in time – a visual experience of the local area in bygone days! As part of the Worcestershire Film Archive tour the museum will be showing an hours film combining footage of Worcestershire in general as well as footage of Redditch. The films date from the 1930s onwards.

This project has been supported by Worcestershire County Council, Media Archive for Central England and Heritage Lottery Fund.

Liberated Patchwork Workshop
LIBERATED PATCHWORK INSPIRED BY LANDSCAPE WORKSHOP WITH MARIE ROPER

This course will teach you to cut beautiful lines without using your ruler, allowing the creation of amazingly free and wonderfully flowing compositions. Juxtaposing colours in an interesting and intuitive way, you will make a small panel suitable for a wall hanging or a cushion.

Sashiko, the beautiful art of Japanese quilting, is a delight and a pleasure to stitch. This workshop will introduce you to the designs, contemporary interpretations and types of thread. You will begin a sampler of designs that can be made into a cushion, wall hanging or bag. Hand quilting.

Forge Mill Needle Museum and Bordesley Abbey Visitor Centre holds many different events throughout the year.

These can link in with National Days or initiatives, seasonal themes or temporary exhibitions that are on display at the museum.

In 2008 the events programme is bigger than ever and includes all sorts of events: a Medieval Festival, an Alien week, workshops, talks, poetry readings, a Murder Mystery, Shakespeare plays and many more.

With such a variety of events there is something for everybody!
